Advantage of Low Flow Shower Head
75What most of the people who have showers at home don’t know is that around 22 percent of the total use of water in their homes (average homes) comes from their shower. And that an average 5-minute shower would consume about 30 gallons of water. And that is just for one person! What about if there are 4 or 5 people in your home using the shower? Well, I’ll leave it to you to do the math. That is why the thing with the low flow shower heads, which are quickly becoming popular in the market, is that it limits and gives you less water consumption being used compared to the standard and traditional shower heads.
How Does It Really Work?
How does it really work? Low flow shower heads of the past work just by simply blocking part of the water flow. A draw back of this is that it results to a somewhat less satisfying shower. But with modern technology and our God-given intelligence, today’s low flow shower heads still control the flow of water but with an addition of pressure through air or engineering so as to give us a firm blast of water that wouldn’t ruin our shower experience.
So how would you know if the shower you have at home uses that much water? Here’s a simple method on how to do it. Just take any 1gallon container under your shower head and take the time on how long it’s completely filled. Normal shower heads have a flow rate of 4-6 gallons per minute (gpm). So a 4gpm shower head would fill the container around 15 seconds. A 6gpm shower head would fill the container in only around 10 seconds, that’s a lot of water if you try to calculate it with your average standard shower time. But if you are using a low-flow shower head, it would take about 24 seconds before the 1gallon container is filled.
This type of shower would be perfect for those people who want to cut up on their water bills to save money. And for those people who are environmental friendly, this could also be your type of shower which saves a lot of water for Mother Nature. And for best efficiency, you could choose to get a low-flow shower head with a shut-off valve. This allows you to turn off the water while soaping up, and then turn it back on instantly without having to readjust the temperature.
This kind of innovations in our bathroom showers really benefits us to cut down our water bills but still gives us enjoyable shower experience. Aside from the luxurious shower experience, we could also be the change that would help the world in our simple way to conserve and save our water.
